Brighton is continuing the push to promote local shopping this holiday season.
The latest is the announcement of another team-up with Downtown Brighton (the DBIA) and the launch of a “Local Holiday ShopPIN” campaign aimed at encouraging residents to “shop small and support our local businesses.”
As previously reported, this is on the heels of the announcement of a “Holiday Eats and Treats” dine local campaign and “the Road to Christmas” late night shopping event last Friday.
All of these initiatives – including a “Love Local” campaign and “Made in Canada, Bought in Brighton” efforts earlier this year – acknowledge the economic hardships businesses are facing this year in the wake of tariff and trade tensions, the affordability crisis, and more challenges.
“Love Local” tote bags created earlier this year similarly stood as a symbolic show of support – while also spreading the “shop local” message. To build on these efforts, the municipality said it has again collaborated with the DBIA to purchase 1,000 limited edition Brighton “Shop Local” pins in two designs.
These pins will be available at select retail businesses when folks make a purchase of $35 or more before tax between Dec. 8 and 13, the municipality has announced.

The list of participating businesses is supposed to be released soon. The pins will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last and only will be provided per customer.
As previously reported, the “Holiday Eats and Treats” dine campaign is also underway as of Dec. 1 and through to Jan. 3, which doesn’t just support local eateries but also offers residents a chance to win.
