A Toronto man accused of ripping through Brighton on Hwy. 401 without a licence or insurance is facing charges and has had his vehicle impounded for two weeks.
Northumberland OPP said officers stopped the 26-year-old after allegedly clocking him at 154 km/h in the eastbound lanes of Brighton during speed enforcement efforts.
The accused is now charged with stunt driving – excessive speed, failure to surrender to a driver’s licence, failure to surrender an insurance card and failure to surrender a vehicle permit, reported OPP.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
In addition to a future court date and the 14-day impound, the man had his licence suspended for 30 days.
Police continue to stress that excessive speed puts everyone at risk and call on motorists to slow it down behind the wheel and drive responsibly.
