Overall building activity in Brighton appears to have continued to slow some in November, but year-over-year the municipality is still up to the tune of about $88 million.
According to the Municipality of Brighton’s November build summary, a total of eight permits were issued for the month in comparison to 18 this time last year. In terms of totals now for the year, 146 permits have been issued versus 170 this time last year.
However, the latest numbers are also being influenced by the addition of roughly $24.5 million with the ground-breaking of the new wastewater treatment facility last month.
Revenue totals for November are being reported at more than $27 million in comparison to roughly $7.6 million for the same timeframe last year.
Nevertheless, for most of this year, year-to-date construction values have been on the rise. Those 146 permits translate to $146,940,700 so far this year versus a total of $58,121,800 this time last year.
In terms of dwelling-specific permits, there were no new additions in the urban or rural areas, according to the latest stats. Last November, Brighton recorded 11 of these permits.
But overall, a total of 54 permits have been issued as of November 2025 versus 53 last November. Forty-three of those 54 permits are in the urban area, while 11 are in the rural area.
There’s been no change under additional residential units with that total remaining at five, according to the latest stats.
