Brighton has ended its significant weather event declaration.
The declaration was officially called off as of noon on Tuesday, Dec. 30, the municipality announced.
The declaration was previously put in place amid back-to-back storms as old man winter hammered the region with a significant amount of snow and freezing rain and strong wind gusts, which created blizzard-like conditions at times. The declaration was put in place Sunday.
For public works crews, it’s business as usual now.
Earlier Tuesday, the City of Belleville also confirmed the end for its significant weather event declaration, saying regular winter operations are ongoing and staff will continue to monitor Environment Canada reports closely for any further changes.
Officials are thanking residents for their patience and help through the recent storms and clean-up crews for their hard work and continued dedication.
In nearby Port Hope, its declaration ended Monday.
