A 32-year-old man wanted in connection with an alleged serious assault in the Trent Hills area was apprehended during a recent RIDE check, says Northumberland OPP.
On Dec. 28, 2025, police said they received a report of an assault that had allegedly occurred on Dec. 21 at a Maple Avenue residence in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
The victim later attended hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, reported OPP.
The investigation led to an individual identified and sought in connection with the incident. Then, on Dec. 30, shortly before 7 p.m., officers conducting a Festive RIDE check in the County Road 8 Trent Hills area stopped a vehicle, where the accused was a passenger, said police.
The accused was subsequently taken into custody with help from the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 32-year-old man with no fixed address was charged with aggravated assault and breach of recognizance.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
