Ontario Provincial Police say one person has died following a collision on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe.
Police say officers from the Northumberland detachment were called to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cochrane Road at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, after reports of a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.
According to police, a pedestrian was struck in the eastbound lanes, and a vehicle was parked close to the median in the westbound lanes at the time of the incident. As a result of the collision, a 22 year old man from Chatham was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Highway 401 was closed between Big Apple Drive and County Road 30 to allow police to conduct their investigation. OPP Technical Collision Investigation members assisted at the scene. All lanes reopened at approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday, January 4.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
