Trentonians can have their say and learn more about water upgrades in the works later this month.
The City of Quinte West says a public information centre (PIC) meeting to delve into upgrades planned for the Trenton water distribution system, which includes a new water tower and pump station near Mount Pelion, is set for Jan. 20.
The meeting will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in council chambers at 7 Creswell Dr. At the drop-in-style meeting, city staff say residents will be able to learn more about proposed improvements and ask questions.
City staff say this planning process has been undertaken to provide additional water storage and operational improvements to the water distribution system for Trenton, and that the project is needed as the community requires upgrades and expansion to the system to provide improved security and supply and reliability of the supply system with long-term operational flexibility.
At the meeting, residents will be able to view detailed documents, learn about progress to date, including the proposed preferred option, which includes the new water tower, pump station and related improvements on city lands located north of Catherine Street and west of Mount Pelion.
City staff and consultants will also be on hand to answer questions. The project is being carried out under a schedule B municipal class environment assessment (EA) process.
