Charges have been laid after a vehicle allegedly crashed into a snowplow, and a driver tried to then flee on foot, say Belleville police.
On Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at about 2:53 a.m., the Belleville Police Service said officers responded to a collision report in the downtown area.
After arriving on scene, officers observed a vehicle that had struck a snowplow, and witnesses reported that a male driver exited the vehicle after the collision and fled the scene on foot.
Shortly after, police said a 20-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus,) dangerous operation, and failure to stop after an accident.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
