The intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 7 in Centre Hastings has re-opened to traffic. Vehicles have been removed and repairs completed to the traffic lights.
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle collision in Madoc involving an ambulance and a transport truck that left one paramedic with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the crash happened Monday, February 2, 2026, shortly after 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 62. Officers and emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving an ambulance and a transport truck.
Two paramedics were transported to a local hospital. Police say one paramedic was later airlifted by ORNGE to a trauma centre due to life-threatening injuries, while the second paramedic continues to receive treatment for injuries that have not yet been determined.
The two occupants of the transport truck were also taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact Central Hastings OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
