Northumberland OPP say a Colborne woman is facing impaired driving charges after officers responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in a snowbank in Hamilton Township.
Police say the call came in shortly before 4:40 a.m. on Monday, February 2, regarding a black four door sedan on Division Street. When officers arrived, they found a woman slouched over in the driver’s seat.
According to police, officers woke the driver and noticed a strong odour of alcohol. After speaking with the woman, investigators suspected she had been drinking and she was taken into custody.
Police say the accused was transported to a nearby OPP detachment for further testing, where it is alleged she registered more than three times the legal limit.
Miranda Benoit, age 44, of Colborne, has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
She has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on February 25.
The charges have not been proven in court.
