A new office partnership in Cobourg is bringing two organizations that serve children and families closer together.
YMCA Northumberland has expanded its Children’s Services team into additional workspace within the Highland Shores Children’s Aid building at 1005 Burnham Street.
The YMCA division supports families across the county through 25 licensed child care centres. Under the arrangement, both organizations will continue to operate independently while sharing some common areas, including kitchen space.
Leaders say the model is designed to improve day to day efficiencies while also encouraging stronger working relationships between staff.
Representatives from both agencies gathered earlier this week for a meet and greet inside the shared facility to mark the start of the partnership.
YMCA President and CEO Eunice Kirkpatrick says the move provides room for growth and will help deepen community connections.
Highland Shores Executive Director Jess Uddenberg says having trusted partners working side by side can reduce barriers for families and create a more seamless support experience.
While each organization maintains its own responsibilities, both focus on the wellbeing of children, youth and caregivers throughout the region.
Officials say the shared space demonstrates how agencies can pool resources in practical ways while continuing to deliver specialized services.
