Northumberland OPP say a 31-year-old Peterborough man has been charged following a sexual offences investigation that began late last year.
Police say they received a complaint in November 2025 involving online communications and alleged child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The investigation was led by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit and continued for nearly three months.
On February 12, 2026, officers arrested Jonathan Hunter of Peterborough.
According to police, he has been charged with making, printing, publishing or possessing for the purpose of publication child sexual abuse and exploitation material, as well as importing, distributing, selling or possessing such material for the purpose of distribution or sale.
Police say the accused was held in custody for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
