Northumberland Hills Hospital is encouraging residents from across west Northumberland County to consider volunteering as Community Members on its Board of Directors.
The hospital will host a Virtual Board Volunteer Open House on Tuesday, March 10 at 7 p.m. via Zoom to provide more information about the opportunity and allow prospective volunteers to meet current board members.
The NHH Board of Directors is composed of community volunteers who provide governance and strategic oversight for the hospital. Responsibilities include setting strategic direction, selecting and evaluating the Chief Executive Officer and Chief of Staff, overseeing physician credentialing and monitoring operational and financial performance.
Community Members serve on board committees including Quality and Safety, Governance and Facilities and Campus Development, and also participate in full board discussions.
The expected time commitment is approximately two hours per month, with one committee meeting and one board meeting from September through June. Meetings are held in a mix of virtual and in-person formats, typically in the early morning or evening.
Community Member service also supports board succession planning, and Members may later be appointed as full directors when vacancies arise, depending on board needs.
Hospital officials say they are seeking individuals who reflect the diversity of the region and who share the organization’s core values of integrity, quality, respect, compassion and teamwork.
Expressions of interest are welcomed year round. More information, including an expression of interest form and frequently asked questions, is available at nhh.ca.
