The Ontario government is welcoming a $141 million investment from Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Ltd. to expand and modernize its flagship manufacturing, distribution and sales centre in Brampton.
The expansion will introduce a new state-of-the-art production line capable of producing at least 20 million additional cases annually. The project is expected to create up to 500 construction jobs and further strengthen Ontario’s beverage manufacturing and agri-food supply chains.
Premier Doug Ford said the investment is a vote of confidence in Ontario’s workforce and manufacturing sector. The expansion will be built exclusively by Canadian tradespeople, with at least 75 per cent of materials sourced domestically.
Coca-Cola Canada Bottling says the upgraded facility will be among the most technologically advanced production lines in the country. The modernization is intended to increase production capacity, improve packaging flexibility and allow the company to bring new product innovations to market more quickly.
The Brampton facility employs more than 1,300 people and services over 7,000 local customers from Kitchener to Oshawa. Products manufactured there are distributed throughout Ontario and eastern Canada.
Since becoming an independent, family-owned business in 2018, Coke Canada Bottling has invested more than $230 million in its Brampton operations. The company also invested $8 million in its Hamilton distribution centre last year.
The province says Ontario is home to more than 800,000 manufacturing workers and 867,000 agri-food workers, with both sectors contributing more than $145 billion annually to the province’s GDP.
