Dr. Natalie Bocking has resigned as the deputy medical officer of health for Lakelands Public Health, the regional agency serving Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, and Peterborough.
The resignation was announced at a recent board of health meeting. Dr. Bocking previously served as the medical officer of health for the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, a position she held beginning in 2021. When that health unit merged with Peterborough Public Health at the start of 2025, she became deputy medical officer of health for the combined organization.
Her tenure included guiding public health teams through the recent merger and helping coordinate health services across a broad geographic region. Dr. Bocking’s experience in public health leadership and community health initiatives has been part of local responses to a variety of health challenges over recent years.
Board members and colleagues acknowledged Dr. Bocking’s years of service and expressed their appreciation for her leadership, offering their best wishes for continued success in the next chapter of her career.
Lakelands Public Health has not yet announced a successor to the deputy medical officer role.
Further details about the leadership transition and any interim appointments are expected to be released by the health unit in the coming weeks.
