Brighton businesses eyeing storefront or accessibility upgrades still have time to pursue help through the municipality’s community improvement plan (CIP.)
Applications are open until March 31 through several streams for eligible business and property owners.
There’s a facade improvement design rebate option, as well as a facade and landscape improvement stream.
The rebate program is meant to encourage commercial, residential or institutional properties in the downtown core area to make improvements, rehabilitate or improve their facades, explained municipal staff, adding that successful applicants can get help with up to half of eligible costs up to a maximum of $3,000.
The facade and landscape improvement stream is similar and again can help with a rebate for 50 per cent of improvements satisfying design criteria but up to a maximum of $10,000.
Then there is also a community accessibility fund, which is about helping businesses tackle interior and exterior accessibility improvements. Again, the municipality states successful applicants can get help with 50 per cent of eligible costs up to a maximum of $5,000.
Under accessibility, eligible properties include industrial, commercial and mixed use.
A fulsome rundown, including more on the specific eligibility and program requirements, is accessible online. Residents looking to learn more also have the option of exploring a pre-consultation meeting with staff.
