Brighton’s signature Applefest event is once again being recognized among the best festivals provincewide.
This is the second consecutive year that Applefest has been named among the Top 100 festivals in the province by Festival and Events Ontario (FEO.)
Mayor Brian Ostrander called this “a tremendous honour for our community.”
“Applefest reflects the heart of Brighton, our volunteers, businesses, growers and residents who come together to create something truly special,” he said. “This recognition belongs to everyone who works so hard to make Applefest a success year after year.”
The Top 100 Awards shine a light on festivals and events demonstrating everything from excellence in community impact, programming and overall experience. According to the Municipality of Brighton, Applefest was evaluated last fall through a formal submission, which was reviewed by an independent panel of judges.
Applefest is largely powered by a contingent of volunteers and has become a staple of the fall festival season across Northumberland. It’s grown to attract upwards of 20,000 visitors in recent years – and hit a new high last fall.
Applefest advisory committee chair Laura Knegt was “thrilled” to hear the news that Applefest had made the list again this year.
“This recognition is a wonderful achievement and a true testament to the dedication and hard work put in by the Applefest committee and Brighton municipal staff,” added Knegt. “Congratulations to everyone involved in making the event such a consistent success.
“I look forward to seeing Brighton Applefest continue to thrive.”
The four-day festival is set to return in 2026 for its 52nd year from Sept. 24 to Sept. 27.
