Ontario Provincial Police say a man from Alliston has been charged following an investigation into an alleged threat made against Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
According to police, OPP Protective Services Section began investigating the matter on February 13 after learning of a threat directed at the premier.
As a result of that investigation, 20 year old Ramy Jamil Hanna of Alliston was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause harm under section 264.1 of the Criminal Code.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on April 9, 2026.
Inspector Anton Jelich of the OPP Protective Services Section says the organization treats threats seriously.
Jelich says everyone has the right to feel safe, adding that police investigate all threats thoroughly regardless of who is targeted.
The Protective Services Section operates as part of the OPP’s Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau and provides protection for government dignitaries in Ontario.
That includes the lieutenant governor, the premier and members of the provincial cabinet.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
