A 64-year-old Belleville man is facing charges related to mischief and a false alarm of a fire.
The Belleville Police Service said on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at about 3:04 a.m., police responded to a Dundas Street East business initially for a report of an unwanted person being aggressive toward staff.
“Upon arrival, officers spoke with the male who stated that he intended to keep calling 911 until he arranged transport to another location – which he proceeded to do in front of the officers,” said the service.
While officers were talking with the individual, police said two fire trucks arrived on scene, responding to a separate call that the man allegedly placed.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 64-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with false alarm of a fire, public mischief, and five counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
