A 71-year-old Quebec resident is facing charges after a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401 near Cobourg yesterday.
Northumberland OPP said on Monday, March 9, 2026, at about 5:20 p.m., police, fire and paramedics responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes near Nagle Road in the Township of Hamilton.
The crash involved a passenger vehicle and tractor-trailer and ended up blocking two of three lanes for the on-site investigation and removal of vehicles, said police, in an update to MBC on the morning of Tuesday, March 10.
There were no injuries reported at this time, said police, adding resources were cleared shortly after 6 p.m.
As a result of the probe, police said the driver of the passenger vehicle – a 71-year-old Quebec man – was charged with careless driving and failing to have an insurance card.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
