The Brighton All Stars Concert Band is looking for new recruits.
The band has put out a call for local musicians as director Terry Denyes says the group is building its new repertoire for the upcoming summer concert season starting in April.
“We are looking for anyone who is interested in having great fun playing music with a large, friendly group,” says Denyes.
Even if residents haven’t played since high school or university, they’re encouraged to consider giving it a shot.
“(There is) no need to be nervous as we have a very relaxed rehearsal style and we understand you may need time to get back in shape,” says Denyes. “The focus is on challenging music, but the end result is making friends.”
Throughout the year, the concert band normally comprised of about 35 to 40 members performs at events like Brighton’s popular Concerts in the Park series and helps with fundraisers or benefit concerts to support the legion and others, while also performing over the holidays.
The band rehearses Wednesdays at the Brighton Legion in the upstairs hall at 7 p.m.
“Dust off your horn and get back at it,” says Denyes.
Residents interested in getting involved can contact Denyes via terrydenyes@gmail.com.
