With heavy rain expected over the coming days, the Municipality of Brighton is calling on residents to remain alert.
Local creeks and drainage ditches may reach capacity, and residents should be aware that there is potential for isolated flooding in low-lying areas, say officials.
To stay safe, officials say people should avoid walking or driving through flooded areas and keep kids and pets away from fast-moving water and creek banks, officials are reminding residents.
Staff are also asking residents to keep debris clear from storm drains near properties it safe to do so.
If residents notice significant drainage issues or localized flooding, they’re also asked to contact public works’ after-hours line at 613-967-8707.
