YMCA Northumberland has been selected as a local charity partner for McHappyDay 2026, with funds raised set to support programs for children and families across the region.
The annual fundraising event will take place May 6 at participating McDonald’s locations in Cobourg, Port Hope, Brighton, and Campbellford. A portion of proceeds from all menu items sold that day will support both Ronald McDonald House Charities and local YMCA initiatives.
YMCA officials say the partnership will help expand programs designed to provide safe, inclusive, and engaging spaces where children and youth can thrive.
In Cobourg, funds raised through the Cobourg and Port Hope locations will go toward the development of a large outdoor climbing tower at the Cobourg YMCA. The feature is expected to support day camps, school groups, and youth programming by offering opportunities for physical activity, confidence building, and social connection.
In Brighton and Campbellford, proceeds will be used to enhance camp programming. This includes expanded activities and day trips for youth in Brighton, as well as the creation of a new outdoor pavilion in Campbellford to support programming and provide a shared community space.
YMCA Northumberland says the initiative reflects the impact of community partnerships in supporting local families and youth development.
Residents are encouraged to take part by visiting participating McDonald’s locations on May 6 or learning more through the YMCA Northumberland website.
