Municipal offices and services across Northumberland will be impacted over the Easter long weekend.
In Cobourg, all municipal buildings will be closed on Friday, April 3, 2026 for Good Friday. Facilities affected include Victoria Hall, the Cobourg Community Centre, Building 7 Public Works, Venture13, Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing, and the Cobourg Public Library.
The Cobourg Public Library will also be closed on Sunday, April 5, and Monday, April 6, while Victoria Hall will remain closed on Easter Sunday. The Art Gallery of Northumberland will be closed Friday but open Saturday, April 4 from noon to 4 p.m.
Cobourg Transit will not operate on Good Friday but will resume regular service for the remainder of the weekend, including Monday, April 6.
In Port Hope, municipal administrative buildings will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6. For urgent water or road issues, residents can call 905-885-2431 and press star for after-hours service.
Transit service will not run on Good Friday, will operate standard Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 4, no service Sunday, and a reduced schedule on Easter Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Hope Transfer Station will be closed Friday and reopen Saturday.
Recreation facilities will operate on modified schedules. The Jack Burger Sports Complex and Town Park Recreation Centre will be closed Friday and Sunday, with regular hours Saturday and Monday.
The Port Hope Public Library Mary J. Benson branch will be closed Friday, Sunday, and Monday, open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Hub branch remains closed.
In Brighton, municipal offices will be closed on Good Friday, with staff returning Tuesday, April 7. The Brighton Public Library will be closed Friday, Sunday, and Monday, but open Saturday.
All services are expected to return to normal schedules following the holiday weekend.
