Building activity in the Municipality of Brighton showed a slower pace in March compared to last year, according to the latest permit report.
Municipal data shows six building permits were issued in March 2026, bringing the year to date total to 17. That compares to 22 permits issued during the same month in 2025, with last year’s year to date total sitting at 50.
The March permits reflect a mix of residential construction and property improvement projects. These included two single unit dwellings on Royal Gala Drive, a garage on Middle Ridge Road, a secondary dwelling renovation on Sanford Street, a demolition on Scriver Road, and a pool installation on Ward Drive.
In terms of residential breakdown, the municipality recorded two urban dwellings and one rural dwelling for the month, contributing to a total of three new residential units so far this year.
While the number of permits issued in March was lower than the same period last year, activity continues across a range of development types, indicating steady, if more moderate, growth early in 2026.
Municipal officials continue to track building activity as an indicator of development trends, housing demand, and broader economic conditions in the community.
