Northumberland OPP say multiple charges have been laid and several collision investigations remain underway following a busy few days across the county.
Police say on April 17 officers responded to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a recreation centre on Elgin Street in Trent Hills. Following an interaction with the driver, officers launched an impaired driving investigation.
A 24-year-old Hastings resident was charged with impaired operation, having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, driving with cannabis readily available, and driving with an open container of liquor.
On April 18, shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to a crash on Little Lake Road in Cramahe where a pickup truck struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing extensive damage. Two occupants were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver, an 18-year-old from Trenton, was charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, impaired operation, and novice driver alcohol-related offences.
In a separate incident, a 43-year-old Warkworth resident was charged after police observed someone operating a scooter without a helmet on Gravel Road in Trent Hills. Officers say the individual was prohibited from operating a conveyance.
OPP are also continuing to investigate collisions in Trent Hills and Port Hope, including a scooter crash involving a youth, a Highway 401 collision, and a single-vehicle crash on County Road 28.
Police continue to remind drivers to stay sober and report suspected impaired driving.
