Cobourg police say a 24-year-old Scarborough man is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Police say the incident happened Sunday, April 19 while officers were on general patrol in Cobourg.
Officers were approached by a distressed woman who reported that her boyfriend had smashed the windshield of her vehicle before fleeing the area.
Police say officers quickly located the suspect and launched an investigation.
As a result, the man was arrested and charged with domestic mischief, assault with a weapon, three counts of assault, and intimidation.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and was later remanded into custody.
Cobourg police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police continue to remind residents that support is available for those experiencing intimate partner violence and encourage anyone in immediate danger to call 9-1-1.
