The heartbeat of Codrington on Sundays will make a return for its 12th season this weekend.
This Sunday, May 3, the Codrington Farmers’ Market officially opens for the season, which will stretch into October.
Over the last 12 years, the market has grown from humble roots to a robust and market favourite for the region, featuring some 50 vendors in more recent years. And it’s all powered by a small but mighty team of volunteers.
This season, visitors can again expect to find locally grown crops and local faces selling them, along with handcrafted sauces inspired by home recipes, honey from backyard hives, maple syrup from neighbourhood trees, meats from nearby farms, and ‘sweet’ vendors who treat you with homemade baked goods, and more, say organizers.
The market is also well-known for its snack vendors, artisans and even craft beers, along with seasonal activities and special events, and live musician performances, which round out the opportunities to connect with artists, neighbours and local experts.
Organizers add that support for these small businesses and local farmers is crucial – and it means money spent goes right back into the community.
As previously reported, the historic hops barn has also been relocated next door.
The market is open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
