A 65 year old Ajax man is facing a sexual assault charge following an investigation by Cobourg police.
Police say the investigation began May 3 after officers received a report of an alleged sexual assault connected to an event held April 25 at the Cobourg Community Centre.
According to investigators, the victim attended the event where they were allegedly sexually assaulted by an event photographer.
As a result of the investigation, Ignacio Martin Del Campo, 65, of Ajax, was arrested May 20 and charged with sexual assault.
Police say the accused was later released on an undertaking with conditions.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Cobourg police are asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
In the release, police also reminded the public there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted years after an alleged incident takes place.
Police note that sexual assault includes any non consensual contact of a sexual nature and encourage anyone who believes they may have experienced sexual assault to report the incident.
