Families across Northumberland caring for loved ones living with dementia are being invited to a free virtual conversation designed to provide practical tools, encouragement and hope.
The Northumberland PACE Speakers Series will present Dementia: How to be an effective care partner on Thursday, May 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom.
The session features Dr. Jennifer Ingram, a specialist in internal and geriatric medicine, dementia researcher and documentary filmmaker whose work focuses on helping families better navigate dementia care while maintaining dignity, connection and quality of life.
A major theme of the talk will be discussing how families can become more effective care partners.
The presentation will explore practical caregiving approaches, coping strategies and ways families can remain connected and supported throughout the dementia journey.
Ingram says stigma surrounding dementia continues to prevent many families from seeking help or openly discussing what they are experiencing.
As part of the presentation, Ingram will also share excerpts from her documentary No More Silent Battles, which follows several Canadian families navigating dementia care while highlighting both the emotional realities and the importance of community support.
The PACE Speakers Series was launched in 2018 and brings together local health-care organizations, caregivers and specialists to explore health and wellness topics affecting Northumberland residents.
The May 28 session is free and open to the public, with audience questions welcomed during the discussion.
Registration details are available through pacetalks.com.
