Owners Richard Bellamy and Kelly Maika
From lawns and gardens to seasonal cleanups and curb appeal projects, the team at Crew Cut Property Maintenance says homeowners across Northumberland are already thinking about how to make the most of their outdoor spaces this summer.
The Cobourg based company, co-owned by Kelly Maika and Richard Bellamy, has spent years helping residential and commercial property owners maintain lawns, gardens and landscapes throughout the region.
This weekend, Crew Cut Property Maintenance will be among more than 70 exhibitors taking part in the Northumberland Home, Garden and Leisure Show at the Cobourg Community Centre.
Maika says one of the biggest mistakes homeowners make every spring is waiting too long to contact contractors for landscaping and maintenance projects.
According to Maika, changing weather patterns are also influencing landscaping decisions across Northumberland.
One of the biggest trends she’s seeing involves homeowners shifting toward indigenous plants and more climate resilient landscaping.
She says invasive species are also becoming an increasing challenge for homeowners, adding that dealing with them early and consistently is key to keeping properties manageable throughout the season.
For homeowners planning larger outdoor projects, Maika strongly recommends contacting Ontario One Call before any significant digging begins.
Meanwhile, Maika says simple and affordable improvements can still make a major difference visually.
She also encourages homeowners to protect themselves when hiring any contractor whether it’s landscaping, electricians, or home renovations by ensuring companies carry insurance and WSIB coverage.
Crew Cut Property Maintenance offers lawn care, garden maintenance, pruning, seasonal cleanups and snow removal services across Northumberland.
Residents can meet the Crew Cut team and dozens of other local businesses this weekend during the Northumberland Home, Garden and Leisure Show at the Cobourg Community Centre. Doors open at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
