Belleville police have released additional information after a man died following a collision yesterday (Tuesday, May 26.)
Originally, police said emergency crews responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the Bridge Street East and Herchimer Avenue area Tuesday around 10:14 a.m.
In an afternoon update, police confirmed a 26-year-old Belleville man was sent to hospital and pronounced deceased by medical staff and said that their investigation was ongoing.
The incident was described by police initially as a collision involving a pedestrian. However, in a release Wednesday, May 27 with updated information, police said it has since been determined that the deceased was operating an e-scooter at the time of the collision and was the sole rider involved.
On Wednesday, police said their probe remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to reach out to the Belleville Police Service.
No other details were released by police.
