Former Trent Hills Pride Chairperson Emilio Ojeda
Trent Hills Pride has announced a change in leadership as the organization prepares for its annual Pride celebrations.
In a statement released this week, the Board of Directors confirmed that Chair Emilio Ojeda has resigned from the organization for personal reasons, effective May 28.
The board expressed its appreciation for Ojeda’s contributions over the years, recognizing his service to both Trent Hills Pride and the broader community.
” The Board wishes Emilio well in his future endeavours, and we thank him for his years of dedicated service to this group and the broader Trent Hills community,” the organization said in its statement.
Following the resignation, Vice Chair Lee Matthews has assumed the role of Acting Chair, while board member Amanda Alexander will serve as Acting Vice Chair.
The organization says the leadership transition will not impact its ongoing operations or planned Pride Month activities.
Trent Hills Pride noted that its board remains committed to promoting inclusion, advocacy, and education throughout the community.
The announcement comes as the organization prepares to launch its Pride celebrations, with organizers emphasizing that events and activities will continue as planned.
Trent Hills Pride has become a visible advocate for LGBTQ+ inclusion and awareness in the municipality, organizing community events, educational initiatives, and Pride celebrations that bring together residents, allies, and visitors from across the region.
Board members say they remain committed to serving the community with openness and transparency as the organization moves through the leadership transition and into another Pride season.
