A 34-year-old Gananoque woman is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence investigation in Belleville.
Belleville Police say officers responded to a residence in the city’s east end at approximately 5:33 p.m. on June 4 after receiving reports of a domestic dispute.
According to police, the investigation determined one woman allegedly threatened another before a physical altercation occurred. Police allege the accused attempted to kick and punch the victim during the incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Gananoque resident was arrested and charged with assault involving an intimate partner, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm involving an intimate partner, and failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
Belleville Police reported responding to 87 calls for service during the 24-hour period between 5 a.m. June 4 and 5 a.m. June 5.
As with all criminal charges, the allegations have not been proven in court.
Police continue to encourage anyone experiencing intimate partner violence or abuse to seek assistance through local support services or contact police when immediate intervention is required.
