Residents of Alnwick/Haldimand Township are being advised that the Grafton Municipal Office has been closed to the public effective immediately and will remain closed until further notice.
The township announced the closure Monday, stating that municipal services will continue to be available by telephone, email, or by appointment.
Residents requiring assistance are being encouraged to contact the township directly. Payments and applications can still be submitted through the drop box located outside the municipal office at 10836 County Road 2 in Grafton or by mail.
Township officials apologized for any inconvenience and said updates regarding the reopening of the office will be provided as more information becomes available.
At this time, the township has not publicly identified the reason for the closure.
MBC Media sought additional information from township staff following the announcement. While officials indicated a response would be provided, no explanation for the closure had been received by publication time.
The closure affects public access to the municipal office but does not appear to impact the delivery of municipal services, with township staff continuing to provide assistance remotely and through scheduled appointments.
Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the township by phone at 905-349-2822 or by email at info@ahtwp.ca.
The township’s website remains available for information and updates.
Further details will be reported as they become available.
