Northumberland County is inviting residents to attend upcoming public information sessions on two significant infrastructure projects planned for this summer.
The projects include rehabilitation work on the Trent River Bridge near Campbellford and replacement of the Salt Creek Culvert near Warkworth.
The Trent River Bridge, located on County Road 30 about 300 metres south of Peterborough County Road 42, is scheduled for rehabilitation following ongoing inspections and engineering assessments. The work is intended to extend the service life of the structure and includes reconstruction of bridge approach slabs, repairs to portions of the bridge deck, sidewalk and curb, as well as waterproofing and paving work.
Construction is expected to begin in early July and continue until approximately September 25. During that time, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic, with signed detour routes available for local motorists and commercial vehicles.
Residents can learn more at a public information session scheduled for June 24 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s United Church in Campbellford.
The county is also planning to replace the Salt Creek Culvert on County Road 25, south of Gravel Road near Warkworth.
The project follows regular inspections that identified deterioration in the existing culvert. Planned work includes installation of a temporary water bypass system, removal of the current culvert, installation of a new structural steel pipe culvert and additional safety improvements.
A public information session on that project will take place June 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Warkworth Legion.
County staff and project representatives will be available at both meetings to answer questions and discuss construction plans, traffic impacts and detour routes.
