The City of Quinte West is inviting residents to learn more about a major transportation and infrastructure project planned for the west end of the community.
A public information centre will be held Tuesday, June 23, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Trent Port Marina in Trenton to provide details about the Highway 2 urbanization project scheduled for construction in 2027.
The drop-in session will focus on planned improvements along Highway 2 between County Road 40 and 2nd Dug Hill Road.
According to the city, the project will include road reconstruction, three new two-lane roundabouts at County Road 40, Little Farm Boulevard and 2nd Dug Hill Road, as well as new pedestrian crossings, active transportation lanes and streetlights.
Plans also call for the installation of new drainage and storm sewer infrastructure to support future growth in the area.
City officials say the project is being funded in part through more than $11 million received from the Province of Ontario through the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing program.
The investment is intended to help municipalities build the infrastructure needed to support housing development and population growth.
Residents attending the public information centre will have an opportunity to review project details, ask questions and learn more about the construction timeline and anticipated impacts.
The city says the Highway 2 and 2nd Dug Hill Road improvements will play an important role in supporting future residential and commercial development on the west side of Quinte West.
Additional information about the project is available at quintewest.ca/Highway2.
