Brighton Ontario and Brighton New York share more than a name. Mayor Brian Ostrander says the two communities are in the process of drafting a twinning charter.
Ostrander says initally the ball got rolling when he was Warden of Northumberland County and reached out to all of the counties that border Ontario and New York.
Ostrander says the cross-border town to town tie-up is a logical extension of a similar arrangement made overseas last summer.
Ostrander says even without the current trade irritants the world is facing now … it’s good for name sake communities to reach out to each other, formally.
Ostrander says community to community goodwill rises above whatever is happening right now at higher levels of government.
