Headline: Quinte West businesses show stronger confidence than provincial average, survey finds
Businesses in Quinte West are showing stronger confidence in their own outlook than the provincial average, according to new data from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce Business Confidence Survey.
The survey included 144 respondents through the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce and measured both provincial economic sentiment and business-level expectations.
Locally, 55 per cent of businesses said they are confident in their own organizational outlook, compared to 52 per cent across Ontario. Officials say that gap highlights steady optimism in the local business community despite broader economic uncertainty.
Quinte West Chamber of Commerce CEO Suzanne Andrews says the results reflect a realistic but forward-looking business environment.
Andrews said the findings show a business community that recognizes the difficulties it faces while remaining optimistic about future growth.
They noted that 55 per cent of local businesses are confident in their own performance, higher than the provincial average, which highlights the resilience and capability of local entrepreneurs.
The survey found that 68 per cent of optimistic local businesses cite strong demand for their products and services as a key factor. Others pointed to buy-local and travel-local initiatives, technology adoption and workforce stability.
Looking ahead, 44 per cent of Quinte West businesses expect revenue growth over the next 12 months, slightly above the Ontario average of 40 per cent.
Quinte West officials say inflation, rising input costs and the overall cost of living remain the top challenges for businesses. Despite those pressures, they say key indicators such as revenue expectations and expansion plans continue to track at or above provincial levels.
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce survey gathers input from businesses across the province to track economic sentiment and growth expectations.
