The City of Quinte West and the union representing more than 145 municipal employees have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective agreement.
City officials announced Wednesday that a proposed three-year agreement has been negotiated with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 799.3, which represents both inside and outside municipal workers.
The agreement remains subject to ratification by both parties.
CUPE members are expected to vote on the tentative deal in the coming days. If approved by the membership, the agreement will then be presented to Quinte West Council for consideration at its July 15 meeting.
Because the agreement has not yet been ratified, the City says no details of the proposed contract will be released at this time.
In announcing the tentative agreement, the City thanked members of both bargaining teams for their professionalism and collaborative approach throughout the negotiations.
Municipal officials also expressed appreciation to employees for continuing to deliver services to residents while bargaining was underway.
The City says a further update, including details of the agreement, will be provided once the ratification process has been completed by both the union membership and council.
