Belleville Police responded to 316 calls for service between the morning of July 10 and July 13, with impaired driving investigations, a prohibited driver arrest and an appeal for witnesses among the more serious incidents.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed a disturbance near the intersection of Bell Boulevard and North Front Street on Sunday afternoon to contact investigators. The incident occurred at approximately 3:36 p.m., and officers are seeking independent witnesses.
Two motorists are facing impaired driving charges following separate investigations.
Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a traffic complaint on South Front Street, where witnesses reported a man had entered a vehicle while believed to be intoxicated before falling asleep behind the wheel. The driver was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
In a second incident, officers conducted a traffic stop near College Street East and Cannifton Road early Sunday morning. Following an investigation, the driver was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Police also arrested a 30-year-old Foxboro man after locating a prohibited driver operating a vehicle in the city’s north end. He faces two counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, along with several Highway Traffic Act offences.
Other weekend investigations resulted in charges related to mischief, theft and breaches of court-ordered conditions stemming from a domestic dispute.
Anyone with information about Sunday’s disturbance is asked to contact Belleville Police.
