A 28-year-old Brighton woman is facing multiple charges after police say a traffic stop led to an arrest connected to two local theft investigations.
The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers began investigating after a report of stolen liquor from a commercial property on Park Street in Brighton on June 18. Police say the person involved had left the area before officers arrived.
On June 29, police received another report of a theft at a business on Main Street, where approximately $400 worth of merchandise was reported stolen. Investigators identified a person of interest in relation to the incident.
Police say that on July 14 at approximately 1 a.m., officers conducting patrols near Elizabeth Street and Oliphant Street stopped a vehicle. During the interaction, officers identified a passenger who was wanted in connection with theft investigations in the area.
The passenger was arrested.
The accused has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
