A passion for sourdough that began as a hobby in a military housing kitchen has grown into a new bakery serving the Quinte West community.
House of Bread Bakery owner Sadera Jordan discovered her love of baking while raising her three daughters after her family relocated to Quinte West from Cold Lake, Alberta, four years ago.
After developing a loyal following at the Front Street Farmers’ Market, Jordan decided to turn that support into a brick-and-mortar business.
Jordan says that Baking started as a creative outlet and quickly became something that they loved sharing with others.
House of Bread Bakery specializes in small-batch sourdough baked fresh each week. Offerings include classic sourdough loaves, focaccia, baguettes, sourdough pizza dough and sourdough chocolate chip cookies.
The bakery’s rotating Bread of the Week features specialty flavours such as jalapeño cheddar and blueberry lemon.
Customers can also order custom platters for meetings, events and special occasions, featuring focaccia, artisan breads and handcrafted treats.
House of Bread Bakery is located at 2223 Hamilton Road, Units 21 and 22, in Trenton. Pre-orders and small batches are available on Wednesdays and Fridays during scheduled Bread Days, which are announced throughout the week.
The bakery continues to operate at the Front Street Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October.
Jordan says the goal is to make quality sourdough accessible while creating a welcoming space that reflects her faith and values.
As a member of a military family with veteran parents, she also plans to offer a special discount day for current service members, veterans, police and first responders as a thank you for their service.
