Drivers heading through the Bowmanville area or coming back from Toronto after a late night this weekend are being advised to plan ahead as a section of Highway 401 will be closed overnight.
The Ministry of Transportation says the highway will be shut down in both directions between Liberty Street and Highway 115 beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday.
The closure is expected to remain in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday while crews continue bridge reconstruction work at Bennett Road.
Bennett Road will also be closed between Baseline Road and Lake Road from Friday evening until early Monday morning.
Detours will be available, although motorists should expect delays while travelling through the area.
Transportation officials are encouraging drivers to leave extra time for their trips and to follow all posted signage.
