Nominations have now closed for the October municipal election, with voters in Brighton and Quinte West set to choose their next mayors and municipal councils.
The official certified candidate lists are expected to be released following the nomination process. Based on the candidate information currently available, both municipalities have several candidates seeking their respective mayoral positions.
Brighton Mayor
The current unofficial list of candidates seeking the mayor’s chair in Brighton includes:
- Brian Ostrander
- Christina Bergmann
- Bobbi Wright
Deputy Mayor
One candidate has filed to run for Brighton’s deputy mayor position, with one candidate to be elected:
- Laura Knegt
Brighton Councillors
Five councillors will be elected. The candidates currently listed are:
- Jeff Wheeldon
- Mark Bateman
- Emily Rowley
- Catherine Stutt
- Christine Raynor
- Courtney Goodmurphy
- Anne Butwell
- Tammy Archer
Richard Stamplecoski had also filed to run for council but withdrew his nomination.
Quinte West Mayor
The current list of candidates seeking the mayor’s chair in Quinte West includes:

- David Thomson
Dennis Flintoff had also filed to run for mayor but has withdrawn.
Quinte West Council – Ward 1, Trenton
The candidates currently listed are:

The municipalities say certified candidate lists will be available by the certification deadline on Monday, August 24.
