Quinte West is opening another round of financial incentives aimed at encouraging the creation of affordable and rental housing across the city.
Applications are now being accepted for the fall intake of the city’s 2026 Housing Community Improvement Plan, or CIP.
The program is open to local homeowners, investors and developers and offers five incentive streams designed to help offset costs associated with creating new housing. Eligible applicants may also be able to combine qualifying incentives.
Support can help cover expenses including development charges, planning and building permit fees and property taxes.
The city says the program is intended to encourage new purpose-built rental housing, additional residential units and other affordable housing projects.
More than $2 million in Housing CIP incentives are already supporting 107 purpose-built rental units in Quinte West in 2026. Of those, 42 are expected to be affordable units, with rents set at or below 80 per cent of the local average market rent.
“We encourage qualified applicants interested in helping create affordable housing options in Quinte West to complete an ‘Intent to Apply’ form on the City’s website,” said Brian Jardine, director of Planning and Development Services.
Jardine said the program is available for projects ranging from homeowners creating additional residential units to developers planning larger housing developments.
Applications for the fall intake close Monday, October 5.
