The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a stolen vehicle discovered following a weekend collision, while also laying charges in three separate incidents across the county.
Police responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck on Concession Road 13 East in Trent Hills at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday. Two occupants reportedly fled the scene on foot after the truck struck a hydro pole, bringing down hydro wires.
A second vehicle later collided with the downed wires. No injuries were reported.
The OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit assisted with a search of the area, but no suspects were located.
Police say the pick-up truck had been reported stolen from Durham Region in 2021 and was displaying licence plates registered to another vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
In a separate Brighton investigation, police have charged 26-year-old Travis Knapman with two counts of mischief over $5,000. The charges stem from reported damage to a residential trailer, storage shed, items inside the structures and a vehicle on County Road 64.
Police also charged 29-year-old Jeremy McDermott of Oshawa with assault following a reported incident at a Percy Street residence in Cramahe Township. EMS attended and treated non-serious injuries.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old Emma Audenaert of Oshawa faces impaired driving and other charges following a traffic stop on King Street East in Colborne early Sunday morning.
She is charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, driving without a licence and driving without a currently validated permit.
Audenaert also received a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
