A southern Ontario hunter has been fined $1,500 after pleading guilty to failing to immediately invalidate an antlerless deer tag.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says Angelo Micone of Beeton was hunting with a group on Manitoulin Island in November 2025 when the violation occurred.
Conservation officers were patrolling the Township of Burpee and Mills on November 20 when they encountered Micone at the group’s hunt camp.
An investigation determined Micone had shot an antlerless deer three days earlier, on November 17, but failed to immediately invalidate his tag as required.
According to the ministry, Micone processed the deer and continued hunting deer throughout the remainder of the week without invalidating the antlerless deer tag.
The deer was seized and later donated to a local Indigenous community.
Micone pleaded guilty to failing to immediately invalidate the tag and was fined $1,500.
The case was heard before Justice of the Peace Lori-Ann Toulouse at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on February 19.
