Home sales slowed across all six Central Lakes Association of REALTORS® regions in August as seasonal trends weighed on activity, although prices and year-over-year results varied from market to market.
The association reported 1,150 home sales across its regions during the month.
Durham Region led the association with 568 sales, while the average selling price fell to $823,153 from $840,581 in July. New listings dropped 17.1 per cent month-over-month to 1,426.
In Hastings County, 171 homes sold, while the average price rose 7.3 per cent from July to $556,108. Sales, prices and new listings were also higher than a year earlier.
Northumberland recorded 118 sales, unchanged from August 2025. The average selling price reached $709,023, up from the same month last year, while 288 new listings came onto the market.
Elsewhere, Peterborough City and County saw 152 sales and a 10.9 per cent monthly increase in the average price to $748,495. Kawartha Lakes recorded 107 sales, while Prince Edward County reported 34.
CLAR CEO Wendy Giroux said housing affordability, growth and infrastructure remain key issues ahead of upcoming municipal elections.
