Adam Walsh is the captain of the Brighton Fire Department, and he says it will be all hands on deck this coming weekend when Applefest hits the streets of Brighton once again.
Walsh says all Northumberland County fire departments will be represented that weekend, with Saturday, September 26, being “Test Your Smoke Alarm Day” as well.
Speakers from the local Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as political dignitaries, will be talking about fire safety and prevention. What better time to do so than before an audience of hundreds of fairgoers?
Walsh also reminds us that starting October 5, it will be Fire Prevention Week, during which there will be visits to schools to educate students about fire prevention. Even homeschooled students will be accommodated that week.
Walsh says all of their trucks will be at Applefest for kids and the young at heart to “touch a truck.” There will even be Junior Firefighter games, as well as the fire safety trailer.
